Mechatronics Technician (f/m)

Roles and responsibilities in overview

Mechatronics technicians manually and automatically machine materials and assemble mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and electronic components to create mechatronic systems. They install the produced components and parts of the system, as well as commission and operate the systems. This also includes measuring and testing the systems and components. If necessary, they also program the production systems, and maintain the systems and parts of the systems.

They work for the manufacturers, buyers and operators of mechatronic systems, such as in plant and manufacturing systems engineering, in the chemicals and automotive industry. They carry out their role in various workplaces, primarily at installation sites, in workshops and for maintenance services.

Requirements

  • Intermediate secondary education with good grades
  • Advanced technical college entrance qualification
  • General qualification for university entrance

  • Implementing quality assurance measures
  • Commissioning and operating equipment and machines
  • Maintaining machines and systems
  • Machining and joining mechanical parts
  • Installing electrical cables and components
  • Installation of pneumatic, hydraulic components
  • Assembling and dismantling plants and systems
  • Planning and controlling sequence of operations
  • Checking and setting functions on assemblies and components
  • Measuring, checking and adjusting electrical, mechanical and pneumatic system dimensions
  • Installing and testing hardware and software components

Length of apprenticeship

  • 3½ years – there is the option of shortening the apprenticeship
