Ziehl-Abegg presents a new elevator frequency inverter.
The new ZETADYN 3BF 009 inverter enables running gearless ZETATOP motors in single-phase at 230V for the first time. Elevators can now also be operated on the building mains network where three-phase connections are not available.
The combination of an inverter and the ZETATOP series motor can move a nominal load of up to 320 kg with speeds up to 0.8 m/s. The new ZETADYN frequency inverter series product also facilitates simple and time-saving setup and configuration as it comes prepared for elevator operation; it can be adjusted to the units relevant for elevator engineering such as m/s or m/s².
If the inverter is purchased from the manufacturer together with the motor, the system can even be preconfigured in the factory, precluding the necessity of onsite setup. That saves valuable time on the construction site.
The ZETATOP SM160.20 elevator machine for nominal loads up to 320 kg works extremely low noise and energy efficient. These characteristics make the product additionally recommendable for home elevator operation. Both the inverter and the elevator motor were designed for the rapid load alternations that occur in elevator operation and are characterized by extremely high reliability. On top of that the, system complies with the EMC values demanded in the EN12015 (emission) and EN12016 (immission) standards despite the single-phase operation.

– Symbolic ground-breaking
After opening of the 'state-of-the-art' Ziehl-Abegg InVent Technology Centre in May, the expansion goes on at the Hohenlohe industrial park Ziehl-Abegg manufacturing site:
The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for the extension of the Ziehl-Abegg manufacturing site Gewerbepark Hohenlohe took place on 10 October 2008. Chief Technology Officer Norbert Schuster inaugurated the celebration, emphasising the innovative strength and the significance of the German location for the company. Following, he introduced the building project and its future utilisation.
After only 5 years upon completion of the manufacturing site, a two-part extension will be constructed on a 7500 square metres area. The first section over about 3300 square metres will accommodate the extension of the high-bay warehouse with 5000 new storage cells, inclusive the new logistic zone. The second part is a 94 metres long, 45 metres wide and 10 metres high production hall on an area of 4200 square metres where 70 new jobs are planned. The total investment amounts to over 10 million Euros.
Next to company representatives and the Ziehl family, representatives from politics and society were also present at the ground-breaking ceremony. In his speech, County Commissioner Jahn considered Ziehl-Abegg AG as one of the main employers in the region and Waldenburg Mayor Markus Knobel emphasised the importance of this project for the Hohenlohe industrial park.
Ziehl-Abegg has extended its unique range of innovative FE2owlet model series to include further diameters, enabling condenser performance improvements in terms of increased efficiencies and reduced noise levels.
Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important in the design of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. FE2owlet fans are gaining in popularity with air cooled chiller applications, remote air cooled condenser applications and dry coolers with EC motor variants enabling owners to realise major energy expenditure savings.
Furthermore, in cooler type applications, EC fans present the additional benefit of radiating less heat from the motor compared with an AC equivalent, reducing plant heat loads, enabling higher plant efficiencies.
New standards in fan technology have been set here by the innovative Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet fans with AC- and EC motors. These new standards are further enhanced with the use of guide vanes in increase the ‘throw’ of the fans, available for fans with diameters from 450mm to 800mm.
EC technology however is not the panacea for all speed control requirements, and Ziehl-Abegg’s Fcontrol frequency inverter presents the perfect solution for speed controlling AC motors (for both fan applications and non-fan applications). The integrated all-pole sinusoidal filtration enables inverter speed control of parallel motors, significantly reduces the stress applied to AC motor windings, and guarantees maximum motor life.
Advances in heat-pump technology, the resulting energy saving opportunities, and incentives for the use of heat-pumps, have resulted in an explosion in their popularity. Ziehl-Abegg’s state-of-the-art high efficiency FE2owlet axial fans and Vpro centrifugal fans both have innovative profiled blade geometry and low noise emissions.
