Opening of InVent Technology Centre
On Friday, 30th of May 2008, the new Ziehl-Abegg InVent Technology Centre in Kuenzelsau Germany, was opened officially. This modern, threepart complex has been constructed and completed in only one year. With dimensions 97 meter long, 45 meter wide and 10 meter high a very impressive building arose, shaping the cityscape from now on. Spread over an area of over 5000 square meters, more than 100 engineers and technicians are working together in the new, progressive development centre.
The Naming
The English word „Invent“ is not only the name of the new Technology Centre, it also signifies a fusion of the words „innovation“ and „ventilation“, two synonyms for Ziehl-Abegg for almost 100 years.
Modern Technology
Ziehl-Abegg invested 13 million Euros in the pioneering Technology Centre, which is setting new standards. The building is divided into three wings: the first section accommodates the two combined air performance/acoustic fan test chambers; the motor test-bench and experimental area is located in the middle section. The employees, who are working in close proximity to the test-chambers, are accommodated in the third section which is embellished by a glass facade. The three wings surround a recreation area; the atrium.
The new possibilities the Technology Centre offers
It is really the size of the two combined air performance and acoustic test-chambers, that take on overwhelming proportions: The 1250 ton concrete structure is supported by springs to reduce vibrations and external noises during the sensitive noise measurements carried out on the fans. Airflows of up to 100,000 cubic meters of air per hour and pressures of over 3000 Pascal will be generated in a 325 ton measuring path, located in the upper floor of the Technology Center. These test chambers are unique in their field. Thanks to their structural design they guarantee free field conditions during testing, so there are almost no reflections in acoustic terms. The background level is now below 15 dB which in turn means that for the first time, noise tests comply with DIN 3745 Class 1 specifications.

The Showroom in the “Think-Tank”
Ziehl-Abegg´s very own showroom provides its customers with access to the world of fans. In an area covering roughly 200 m2, the many and varied products available in the fans sector are presented, full of innovations and technological advancements.

Ziehl-Abegg AG is looking back on a highly successful business year for 2007. A new sales record has been achieved. In total performance, the Ziehl-Abegg Group attained a turnover of 303 million Euros, with the ventilation division growing 12 % and the drive division nearly 20 % during the past year. The group invested a total of 25 million Euros and 331 new jobs were created.
The numerous technical innovations provided by Ziehl-Abegg over many years have enabled the company to occupy a leading position in the fields of fans, drives and control technology.
