Ziehl-Abegg AG has been involved in special motors for almost one hundred years. Today these drives are used in a wide range of applications.
One special field of application for the motors is that of hydraulic propulsion units in ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), by using high-voltage submersible motors.
ROVs are remote-controlled underwater vehicles designed to perform various tasks in the depths of the sea, for example laying undersea cables.
A ship on the surface drops the “ROVs” to the bottom of the sea. Their electrical power is provided by umbilical cable.
In turn the high-voltage submersible motors drive hydraulic pumps to provide high pressure hydraulic fluid for the required work.
These motors, with their high output density, are integrated as stator / rotor units into the hydraulic pump systems. The motor is cooled effectively by operating within an oil bath.
The range of products extends from HYDT160.20-4; 3000 V with an output of 15 kW up to HYDT280.80-4; 3000 V with 300 kW.
Ziehl-Abegg motors also provide higher performance under the most extreme conditions.
