Reliable and efficient fans for biogas plants

Aktuálně

Bionic fans from Ziehl-Abegg also keep noise levels to a minimum

Biogas plants are an essential component in achieving the targets set for climate protection. For technology to be a sustainable success, operators have to take a business management approach, that’s why the focus is on reliability and efficiency. This must also be taken into account when selecting the components required for this. Fans are used in combined heat and power plants (CHP) primarily for ventilation of the machine rooms and for machine coolers. This ensures that the machine operates within the specified thermal range and consequently achieves its desired service life.

Ziehl-Abegg has been supplying specially adapted control units and fans for biogas plants for decades. Energy efficiency is achieved through aerodynamically optimized fans, in conjunction with highly efficient motors and the right control technology. The bionic design of Ziehl-Abegg's fans significantly reduces sound emissions. The reliability of the fans is based on years of experience, for example in ventilation for animal stables.

It is mainly axial fans from the MAXvent or ZAplus series that are used, depending on the performance requirements. Both series use quiet and efficient blade designs which have been developed with the help of bionics. Special fans are available for applications which are subject to particularly demanding climatic or corrosive conditions.

The fans use the appropriate control technology for operating on-demand. As a result, energy consumption is minimal and sound emissions very low.

Various communication interfaces can be used to ensure optimal integration into the machine control unit.

Ziehl-Abegg develops solutions for new buildings or provides plans for upgrading existing biogas plants in respect of energy consumption and noise emissions.

About Ziehl-Abegg

Ziehl-Abegg (Kuenzelsau, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany) is one of the leading global companies in the field of ventilation, control and drive technology. Back in the Fifties, Ziehl-Abegg established the basis for modern fan drives: external rotor motors which even today are still seen as state-of-the-art worldwide. Another area of business is electric motors which provide the power, for example, for elevators, medical applications (computer tomography equipment) or deep-sea underwater vehicles. The theme of electro-mobility for motor vehicles was established as part of the Ziehl-Abegg Automotive Team in 2012.

The high-tech company has an impressive innovative capability. Ziehl-Abegg employs 2,200 personnel in its production plants in Southern Germany. The company has a global workforce of 3,900 spread between 16 production plants, 28 companies and 108 sales locations. The products, approx. 30,000 in all, are sold in more than 100 countries. Turnover in 2017 totalled 540 million euros, with exports accounting for three quarters of the figure.

Emil Ziehl founded the company in Berlin in 1910 as a manufacturer of electric motors. After the Second World War the company’s headquarters were relocated to Southern Germany. Ziehl-Abegg SE is not a listed company but instead is family-owned.
