CMM operator/ Quality Engineer (m/f)


Description of role

  • Performing detailed and complex dimensional measurements and inspections with a WENZEL 3D CMM machine using the QUARTIS software suite
  • Be responsible for the operation and upkeep of all the measuring equipment, including calibration
  • Create programs and operate CMM equipment to inspect parts per engineering specifications
  • Complete and maintain detailed and accurate dimensional inspection reports and analysis of inspection data
  • Participate in drawing/design reviews in cross-functional meetings to ensure that conformance to specifications, reliability, and quality objectives are met
  • Create and document first sample reports according to VDA 2 or PPAP standards
  • Inspect manufacturing & assembly drawings
  • Administer the parts approval and release procedure
  • Determine quality (Pass/Fail) of manufactured parts based on dimensional and visual inspection
  • Maintain safety and quality standards using acceptable housekeeping practices and 5s processes on equipment and work area
  • Recommend/design inspection fixtures or gages for production purposes
  • Other duties as assigned

Job requirements

  • AS/BS engineering degree or equivalent work experience  
  • Previous work experience with a wide range of precision measuring equipment incl. CMM in a manufacturing environment
  • Preference given for experience working with WM | Quartis Measuring Software and/or Wenzel CMM equipment
  • Reading & interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications 
  • Fluent in GD&T iaw ASME Y14.5 and ISO 14405-1/2/3, ISO 1101 and ISO 8015 tolerancing specs
  • Working knowledge of VDA2 or PPAP standards  
  • Experience in the parts approval process and first article inspections
  • Highly organized with a high level of integrity
