
ErP Regulation (EU) 2024/1834
A new chapter in ventilation technology
Since July 24, 2026, stricter efficiency requirements have applied to fans with an input power between 125 watts and 500 kilowatts. The ErP Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 assesses the system as a whole, consisting of the motor, aerodynamics and auxiliary components. There is an extended focus on information on partial load behavior, resource efficiency over the entire product life cycle and extended information obligations for manufacturers. The aim of the regulation is to achieve greater energy and resource efficiency in the economic cycle, thereby making an important contribution to climate protection and sustainability.

ErP Regulation for fans
The ErP Regulation (EU) 327/2011 for fans was fully replaced by the new ErP Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 as of July 24, 2026. For fans that are integrated into other products, a transitional period until July 24, 2027 applies under certain conditions.

Who is affected by the regulation?
The regulation applies in all EU member states for manufacturers, importers, system builders and operators of fans that are placed on the market for the first time from July 24, 2026. Retrofitting existing systems is not mandatory.
Are there exceptions?
Excluded from the regulation are explosion-proof fans, fans for emergency or short-time operation and others.
Who is responsible for compliance?
Responsibility lies with whoever completes the fan and places it on the market - even if it is part of a larger system.

Fan definition in accordance with ErP Regulation (EU) 2024/1834
In addition to the motor, impeller and stator elements, inlet nozzles and fan housing are significant elements in accordance with ErP Regulation (EU) 2024/1834.
By using deviating, significant elements to the ZIEHL-ABEGG SE test setup, the exporter becomes the fan manufacturer in accordance with ErP Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 and is also responsible for the ErP data.
If the conditions specified in the product information are met, the ZIEHL-ABEGG ErP data can be used.
