Motor protection

The majority of ZIEHL-ABEGG external rotor motors are equipped with thermostatic switches "TB" as standard. Commercially available motor protection switches or bimetallic tripping devices in the motor supply line operate on the basis of current or temperature and therefore do not detect all operating conditions equally. Fans can be monitored and protected reliably with ZIEHL-ABEGG motor protection devices. This is particularly the case, for example, if they are speed-controlled via the voltage or operated with a high switching frequency. In addition, they prevent automatic restarting after cooling. Protecting several motors via one protective device is also possible.

Product specification:

Most ZIEHL-ABEGG external rotor motors are fitted with thermostatic switches (TB). Explosion-proof external rotor motors contain temperature sensors (TP). IEC standard motors also have integrated temperature sensors (TP) / PTC thermistors. To protect and monitor these motors, ZIEHL-ABEGG supplies suitable products to evaluate thermostatic switches and temperature sensors.

Properties & special features:

  • 3~ motor protection devices for monitoring the integrated thermostatic switches (TB) offer thermal motor protection as well as the option of easily distributing the power to the fans. Connecting several fans to one 3~ motor protection device is possible, with an integrated overcurrent release also providing line protection (fuse function).
  • 1~ motor protection devices monitor one connected motor each (thermostatic switch TP). The monitoring device for temperature sensors (TP) can be used to monitor explosion-proof motors (PTC thermistor tripping unit).

Version:

Scope of functions:

  • 3~ motor protection devices: Manual switching function, motor protection function, power distribution, overcurrent release for line protection
  • 1~ motor protection devices: Manual switching function, motor protection function
  • Monitoring device for temperature sensors (TP) also for monitoring explosion-proof motors. Relay output for controlling motor shutdown (PTC thermistor tripping unit).
