In the case of transport refrigeration, it is not only the reliable availability of the refrigeration system that is decisive, but also the ability to control the mobile refrigeration or air conditioning system as precisely as possible. In refrigeration logistics, everything depends on the right temperature, which in turn is determined by the goods to be transported. Frozen fish in particular should be transported at a constant temperature of at least -18°C in order to meet all food safety requirements. However, -14°C is sufficient as a safe transport temperature for frozen meat or frozen egg products. Fresh meat, sausages, and fresh fish and seafood require temperatures around the freezing point (maximum 2-3°C), while dairy products are safe to eat at 4°C. Flowers, fruit and vegetables do not necessarily have to be refrigerated but they will stay fresh for longer if transported at a temperature between 4 and 8°C.
In modern refrigerated trucks or freezer and refrigerated trailers, several separate refrigeration zones with different temperatures for different products can be set up simultaneously. It should be possible to set the refrigeration system precisely to the degree and provide the required transport refrigeration constantly at the set temperature. Using sensors and coordinated control technology, the system can quickly detect temperature fluctuations (which cannot be avoided, for example, during loading and unloading when the doors are opened) and compensate for these by adjusting the fan speed and output, for example. In the case of air conditioning systems, other parameters, such as the humidity content of the air, can also be measured and controlled as required.
EC fans from ZIEHL-ABEGG can be controlled incredibly precisely thanks to the modern, “intelligent” drives and together with the right control technology reliably provide the required temperature. This makes them an important component in ensuring compliance with all relevant transport, storage and hygiene conditions. What’s more, Royal League technology not only fits conventional refrigeration systems, but also harmonises perfectly with new, modern refrigeration systems that operate with environmentally friendly refrigerants such as CO2 within the framework of the F-Gas Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 on fluorinated greenhouse gases).
