Highly efficient, quiet fans for building ventilation systems
There is a huge range of ventilation concepts for ventilation in buildings, offices and industrial operating spaces: Examples include pure supply air or exhaust air systems, combined supply and exhaust air systems and recirculation systems. What all ventilation systems have in common is that powerful and durable fans are needed to generate the required air movements and reliably provide pleasant and healthy air.
Axial or centrifugal fans can be used for ventilation and extraction, depending on the application and installation situation. Different types of fans are also frequently combined, for example to optimise the energy efficiency of the ventilation system or to achieve the best possible acoustic values.
Axial fans
Due to their operating principle, axial fans generate high air flows and are ideally suited, e.g. as wall fans, to transport large quantities of air over short distances. Among other applications, large wall fans are used for ventilation in halls and large stables. A fan can convey fresh air for ventilation from the outside directly through the wall into the inside of the hall, while a counterpart on the opposite provides the extraction and transports the used exhaust air to the outside.
Centrifugal fans
Centrifugal fans, which also deflect the airflow by 90°, can generate significantly higher pressures than axial fans due to their design. This is what makes them the first choice for ventilation systems where the air has to travel longer distances in the air duct or ventilation pipe and/or there are a number of bends and branches where additional pressure losses may occur.
The outstanding sound values of ZIEHL-ABEGG fans are made possible, on the one hand, thanks to optimised impellers. When developing these impellers our engineers were inspired, among other things, by the wings of barn owls. The operation of our fans is made even quieter thanks to precise speed control: This ensures that the fan always generates exactly the air flow that is required at any given moment. This reduces noise and also contributes to significant reductions in energy and operational costs for the entire system.
With the ZAvblue model range, we have developed particularly efficient centrifugal fans for ventilation and extraction in living spaces that are extremely energy-saving and boast whisper-quiet operation, and whose three-dimensional blade geometry prevents air losses. The compact “blue wonders” fit into any ventilation system and are also ideal for controlled living space ventilation with heat recovery.
The innovative ZAplus fan system from ZIEHL-ABEGG has already proven itself in ventilation systems around the world. By combining it with the biomimetically designed FE2owlet blade, the best possible sound values are achieved.
For maximum durability, we offer different versions of corrosion protection, and the fans are also available in various ATEX versions with explosion protection. This is the case for both axial and centrifugal fans
With the various expansion and control modules from our range, intelligent systems can be created for individual rooms as well as smart networked bus solutions, e.g. for integrating all systems for ventilation, extraction or air conditioning in large buildings.
