The ZAdyn frequency inverter delivers maximum functionality in the smallest space, and is suitable for control cabinet or wall installation. The ZArec power recuperation unit reconditions regenerative energy and feeds it back into the power supply network. This taps into additional energy-saving potential for greater efficiency and sustainability. Evacuation units from the EVAC 3 model range switch the ZAdyn into emergency operation mode and enable direction-independent travel at reduced speed for safe evacuation of the elevator.

ZIEHL-ABEGG has been developing elevator technology for more than 100 years. We develop and manufacture frequency inverters, power recovery units, evacuation units and other system components that are perfectly tailored to our various elevator machines and thus enable reliable, safe and cost-effective operation of elevator systems of all sizes and designs.
In sizes up to 220 A, we are the only supplier able to offer contactorless operation of the elevator machine in combination with electronic short-circuiting of the motor windings.
ZAdyn frequency inverter
The frequency inverters in the ZAdyn model range developed exclusively for elevator technology deliver maximum functionality with minimal dimensions. They conveniently and precisely control the speed of the elevator machine and are suitable for mounting both in control cabinets and on walls with various housings and a compact design.
With the ZAdyn frequency inverter, cable elevators with synchronous or asynchronous motors (also from other manufacturers) offer maximum travel comfort and absolute-precision positioning of the elevator car.
The integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function according to IEC 61800-5-2 (SIL 3) fulfils the requirements of EN 81-20. Evacuation journeys are possible with UPS and batteries. The intuitive software offers monitoring functions in accordance with the Lift Directive 2014/33/EU:
- Direction of travel change counter for lifts with cables or belts featuring a plastic jacket
- Self-monitoring of the motor brake for protecting against unintended car movement
- Self-monitoring of the motor brake as part of the protective device for preventing the car from overspeeding when travelling upwards
In many elevator systems, the energy generated during regenerative travel is not used, but instead converted into waste heat via a brake resistor. However, increasing energy costs are increasingly calling for alternative solutions to exploit the unexploited energy potential and increase energy efficiency.
The ZArec energy recovery unit enables elevators to recover energy by processing the regenerative energy and feeding it into the supply network in a sinusoidal manner. ZArec exceeds the requirements of EN 12015 for electromagnetic compatibility of the power recuperation unit.
EVAC – evacuation
The evacuation units in the EVAC 3C model range have been specially developed for elevator technology. In the event of a power failure, the elevator evacuation unit ensures availability and switches the ZAdyn to emergency operation mode. This enables load- and direction-independent evacuation with reduced travelling speed and safe evacuation of the elevator for up to 60 minutes.
ZAbluegalaxy for intelligent elevator technology
With ZAbluegalaxy, you and your customers have access to intelligent, highly secure cloud technology that you can use to monitor and analyse your elevator systems around the world with a single click. This allows you to check important sensor data or performance parameters concerning the condition of the system and travel comfort in seconds, collect statistical data easily, and detect wear and restricted traction conditions early to initiate preventative maintenance measures before serious problems occur.
ZAlift design software
We have developed ZAlift to help you reliably design the elevator machine and frequency inverter for your elevator and determine energy requirements and energy costs quickly and easily. The elevator design software is your ideal tool for selecting the components of the drive package and for all calculations required for system installation (EN 81-compliant traction conditions, stopping distance according to EN 81-20 and elevator energy efficiency class according to VDI 4707).
ZAmon Mobile app for intelligent operation
With ZAmon Mobile, you have an outstanding tool at your disposal for operating frequency inverters from the ZAdyn model range with mobile devices. Self-explanatory icons and a clearly structured user interface mean that it doesn't take long to get to grips with the system. Informative texts for each parameter and detailed online assistance help you to commission, parametrise and analyse your elevator systems. The innovative start-up wizard guides you through all the necessary parameters in simple steps.
