Oliver Hildenbrand, Regional Chairman of the Alliance ‘90/The Greens, also took the opportunity to take a look into the world’s largest combination test chamber for fans. Fenkl, the man at the company’s helm, stated that the engineering objective was to achieve a noise level significantly below the threshold of human hearing: quieter, more energy-saving and resource-conserving. “This puts us fully in tune with your political party”, he declared to the senior politicians, accompanied by regional party officials.
Environment Minister Untersteller was already acquainted with Ziehl-Abegg as a technology leader from a number of previous occasions: at the award ceremony for the Baden-Württemberg Environment Technology Prize 2011, he had presented a prize for the Cpro fan on which steel was replaced by a composite plastic material and in 2013 he presented the award for ZAplus fan system – on both occasions the jury had placed special emphasis on the energy-saving feature. When presenting the most recent award the Minister also commended the gearless electric drive for city buses ("ZAwheel") on the podium, another product from Ziehl-Abegg.
The Environment Minister was impressed with the extensive variety of products and range of applications: including one device (the "ZArec") which feeds the braking energy generated by a moving elevator back to the power grid. This power feedback unit recently won an international award at the Euro-Lift trade fair.
