For this reason, no frequency inverter is better matched to a ZIEHL-ABEGG motor and parameterised than the Icontrol and Fcontrol. The Icontrol's plug & play installation concept enables quick setup and easy operation. With an integrated sinusoidal filter, Fcontrol is a one-of-a-kind frequency inverter that meets the highest standards.
As a system supplier, ZIEHL-ABEGG enables any version of voltage controllers, motor protection devices, control modules and active harmonic filters to be combined. Products with system expertise, be it a new construction or the retrofitting of existing systems.

ZIEHL-ABEGG is one of the few manufacturers in the world to manufacture frequency inverters equipped with an integrated, all-pole sine filter as standard.   This enables high EMC compatibility and unmatched reliability when using this technology with different types of motors. This is because it is increasingly important to find a solution that is as energy-efficient as possible in order to limit operating costs and positively influence one’s own environmental balance.

The frequency inverters of the PMIcontrol Basic-M series are able to control both motor types (asynchronous and permanent magnet motors). They can be mounted directly on IEC standard motors or PM motors and, if required, can be expanded functionally quickly and without great effort using add-on modules.

What makes the Fcontrol so unique is its integrated, all-pole effective sine filter. This makes it possible to control fans without increased stress on the winding insulation and motor bearings, similar to the mains power supply.  The Fcontrol operates extremely energy efficiently, is gentle on the motor and does not generate electromagnetic motor noise. In addition, a shielded motor cable is not required for operation and the cable length is also not restricted by the Fcontrol.  In addition, the Fcontrol also ensures problem-free parallel operation of motors and fans without the measures normally required.

With Icontrol, standard frequency inverters are available for cost-effective and simple control of internal rotor asynchronous motors in accordance with IEC standards as well as for fans. This is comparable to PMcontrol, which is suitable for internal rotor motors with permanent magnets in accordance with the IEC standard.  Both are suitable for operation with shielded motor cables and can be optimally used with fans for process air, building air conditioning and MAXvent medium pressure axial fans. Parametrisation to the assigned fan is possible, enabling quick commissioning via "plug and play".

 

Control modules for intelligent ventilation technology

ZIEHL-ABEGG is the only fan manufacturer that also manufactures its own control modules and optimises them in combination with ventilation and drive technology.  To control the speed of the fans, we have the UNIcon control modules in our range, which record system values in real time and can use this information to control various power components, such as the frequency inverters for controllable AC drives or the naturally controllable EC fans. Each control module can control one or more fans or components so that the process control can be designed very flexibly and individually.

We build and supply control modules in different variants, from universal devices to special sensor control modules for specific applications such as air conditioning or refrigeration. For many applications, pre-programmed operating settings are also available, and integration into bus systems such as MODBUS is also easily possible with our systems.

The ZAbluegalaxy for intelligent fans and fan systems

Intelligent ventilation, drive and control technology is in demand all over the world today – and demand will certainly increase even further in the future, because energy-efficient ventilation technology is a major factor in global environmental and climate protection. Wherever parts move or processes take place, such as in machines or production plants, air must be provided for cooling. Fans provide the necessary ventilation, cooling, air conditioning or heating, for example with environmentally-friendly heat pumps.

both today and tomorrow, as well as to start safely into an even more digitalised future, we offer customers our "Blue Technology": highly intelligent fans from ZIEHL-ABEGG that can be integrated into global networks and enable comprehensive control from anywhere in the world as well as predictive maintenance. The technical prerequisites for this are offered by the ZAbluegalaxy IoT platform,  a cloud that we have developed together with Deutsche Telekom on the basis of Microsoft Azure.  The information and operation of the ZAbluegalaxy is viewed via a user-friendly, clear and browser-based dashboard.  Here users and operators can monitor their systems and have the most up-to-date information displayed at any time.

All ZIEHL-ABEGG fans equipped with the smart sensors can transmit their status, for example, to the ZAbluegalaxy via the IoT gateway in an encrypted form. Here the data is then analysed, visualised and stored in high-security rooms.  This offers our customers and users around the world a whole range of advantages: The ZAbluegalaxy can perform Remote monitoring and live analysis, for example, in order to optimise maintenance intervals and no longer maintain them after a fixed cycle, but rather implement as required – this saves time and costs as well as increasing the energy efficiency of the entire system.

Real-time monitoring allows errors and malfunctions, such as temperature overshoots, to be detected more quickly and clearly assigned. As a result, technicians no longer need to search for possible causes of a problem on site, but can head off with the right spare parts already in stock and eliminate problems in a targeted manner.
