ZIEHL-ABEGG offers an unique range of products and solutions for fan speed control. The product portfolio ranges from voltage control units, frequency inverters to ECblue motor technology. Special emphasis is placed on the simplicity of operation of the ZIEHL-ABEGG control systems or speed controllers. This guarantees fast commissioning and reduces costs.
Depending on the sensors being used, the central UNIcon MODBUS Master control device controls the ECblue motors for the supply and exhaust air via MODBUS or with 0-10V. Each motor or even two motor groups can be controlled independently using separate nominal values. The central UNIcon device comes preconfigured with modes for many common applications like such as air volume control etc., so no additional software needs to be developed. Another advantage is that additional functions in small ventilation units can also be controlled. The UNIcon also offers a second MODBUS RTU interface for connecting building control technology. Further bus interfaces can also be integrated directly. We would be happy to discuss the specific interfaces required upon request.
Sensor control modules with an integrated pressure sensor control the pressure, volume flow rate or temperature different control module version) for the supply and exhaust air separately and constantly using individually adjustable nominal values. As an alternative, ZIEHL-ABEGG frequency inverters (e.g. Icontrol) with integrated control logic and sensors connected directly to the inverter can be used for this purpose.
A central UNIcon MODBUS Master can control the system pressure and temperature of fans powered by ECblue motors (see figure 1). The ZIEHL-ABEGG ECblue motors can be assigned to different controlled groups in the MODBUS system, for example two refrigerant circuits that are controlled independently with separate nominal values. However, only one MODBUS interface is required for the wiring.
The auto-addressing function patented by ZIEHL-ABEGG makes it easier to integrate multiple ECblue motors during commissioning or when servicing the system at a later date. This sophisticated system from ZIEHL-ABEGG ensures that the fans keep running even if the MODBUS communication or connection fails.
As an alternative, the ECblue motors can also be controlled with 0-10 V.
The ZAplus can reduce the fans' power consumption by up to 29%, thus making the system more energy-efficient.
Thanks to a special, integrated all-pole sine filter, the ZIEHL-ABEGG Fcontrol inverter controlls by using an external pressure control module or temperature control module, more AC motors in parallel (see figure 2). These highly efficient, quiet frequency inverters can simultaneously control multiple AC motors without the need for screened motor cables.
As an alternative, ZIEHL-ABEGG also offers the Fcontrol with integrated control intelligence. For this, up to two pressure sensors can be connected directly to the Fcontrol. All Fcontrol units supplied by ZIEHL-ABEGG are equipped with a MODBUS interface. The Fcontrol Basic series without integrated control intelligence can be equipped with the field bus add-on modules.
The system is controlled completely by master control units of APPROVED CONTROLLERS FOR ZIEHL-ABEGG. Together with ZIEHL-ABEGG they ensure that the complete solution works highly efficiently and reliably. The connection of ZIEHL-ABEGG frequency inverters and ECblue motors to the controllers of our approved partners is established either via bus systems or analogue signals. The MODBUS RTU industrial standard has been applied as a standard at ZIEHL-ABEGG for more than 10 years. With MODBUS RTU and the patented MODBUS automatic addressing feature, the ZIEHL-ABEGG frequency inverters Icontrol or Fcontrol and ECblue fans can be commissioned very easily and quickly.
